DIE CHOKING Books New Tour Dates As III Debut LP Nears Via The Compound Recs; Fresh Live Footage Posted

Die Choking Jul15

Philadelphia ultragrind trio, DIE CHOKING, continues to book new live actions in support of their impending III debut LP, which is unfuckwithably one of the most intense extreme releases of the year.

DIE CHOKING‘s upcoming III LP presents an unbelievably dense display of some of the heaviest grindcore ever conceived. Stripped of overproduction, performed with devastating efficiency, and dripping with a foul aggression that is frequently absent in today’s extreme music landscape, no samples or triggers were utilized in the recording and mixing process, which took place at the renowned Studio 4 with producer Will Yip (Lauryn Hill, Blacklisted, Cop Problem), after which it was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Nails, Skinless, Integrity). The album’s eleven unchained tracks are pressed to mighty 180-gram vinyl, and, following suit with both of DIE CHOKING‘s prior 7” EPs, will see release in October through The Compound Recs.

In support of III, DIE CHOKING’s steady live campaign continues, with shows in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio this weekend including a Pets Without Parents Fundraiser. Sporadic shows throughout the Northeast with Today Is The Day, Abigail Williams, The Drip, Eaten, Grin And Bear It, Hivelords, Belus, Grizzlor, Old Lines and more through September will be followed by a US tour which will see DIE CHOKING touring across the entire country including their first West Coast shows. Europe will be raided in February as well.

III will see digital release on October 8th and the vinyl on October 23rd. The LP is pressed on 180-gram wax in three insane color variants — 100 in an A Side/B Side black-base 2 Blue Splatter, exclusive to The Compound, available HERE, and 200 each of Blues Of The Mighty Haze and Blue & Bone Splatter Milky Clear available through the band HERE.

LAE: Montreal-Based Post-Hardcore Act Issues “To Give You The Stars Above” Video Through Exclaim; Band Books First Show + Break The Clasp Deluxe 2xLP Preorders Available

lae-2015

Break The Clasp, the debut album from LAE — the Montreal-based psychedelic post-hardcore quintet fronted by Steve Austin of Today Is The Day — is now finally ready for release in its deluxe vinyl format. Alongside preorders for the massive 2xLP edition, an official video for the incredibly heartbreaking “To Give You The Stars Above” has been released through an exclusive premiere at Exclaim! Magazine. LAE will also play their very first live performance in early September.

The incredibly expansive torrent of emotions contained on LAE’s nearly hour-long Break The Clasp features standout performances from each member, the album recorded in full analog in main songwriter Marc Lucas Ablasou’s woodshop in Montreal by Steve Austin of Today Is The Day, who ended up providing lead vocals to the entire album, and the lineup completed by Ronald Jean-Gilles, Serge Nakauchi Pelletier and Stephane Desgroseilliers. Re-envisioning their original anthems penned under initial moniker LAE-TSEU in the mid-late 1990s alongside new songs, the band recorded live on vintage 1970s equipment utilizing a range of guitars, basses, drums, accordion, trumpet, saws, organs, pianos, electronics and a multitude of vocal styles into a four-part storyline of Life, Love, Hope and Death. The record was then mastered by Austin at his own Austin Enterprises (Converge, Burn The Priest/Lamb of God, Deadguy).

Of the thirteen songs Break The Clasp encapsulates, “To Give You The Stars Above” takes the emotive outpouring of LAE to the most inconsolably sad levels on record. Collecting a spread of joyous family film clips, the official video for the song creates a polar opposite vibe of the actual music, further accenting its despondent tones, culminating in an incredibly sad display of what Break The Clasp has to offer. The video was created by director David Hall of Handshake Inc. (Today Is The Day, Brutal Truth, Maryland Deathfest The Movie), who alongside the band, has issued a statement about the creation of the new video. Both statements are now running with an exclusive premiere of the video through Exclaim! Magazine.

View LAE’s “To Give You The Stars Above” video exclusively through Exclaim! now at THIS LOCATION.

Additionally, a new video for the track “Sister” is in the construction process for release in the coming weeks. The entire album is available for streaming RIGHT HERE.

LAE has also booked their very first show since the band’s initial incarnation as LAE-TSEU in the pre-Y2K era! The outfit will perform a set in their hometown of Montreal on September 5th, bringing the songs of Break The Clasp to a live audience for the first time. Additional tour dates will be announced in the months ahead.

LAE Live:
9/05/2015 L’Hemisphere Gauche – Montreal, QC w/ The City Gates + invite [info]

Following its initial digital and digipak CD release of LAE’s Break The Clasp in November, the album is now available for preorder in its most expansive edition yet, as the massive double-LP version is set for a September street date. A co-released title between The Compound Recs and Battleground Records, the wax version is pressed on two massive slabs of 180-gram black vinyl with poly-lined inner sleeves, a full-color gatefold cardboard outer sleeve with front and back spot varnish with a free digital download card, fully shrink-wrapped with a cover sticker, displaying the otherworldly cover art by Sonny Kay (The VSS, Angel Hair, Gold Standard Laboratories label, etc.) and LAE’s incredible songwriting in an ultra-deluxe format.

Set for release on September 25th, preorders for the 2xLP version of Break The Clasp as well as the CD versions are now available via The Compound HERE and Battleground HERE. All preordered copies will ship ahead of street date.

LAE frontman Steve Austin also recently scored the upcoming Hollywood release of Addiction: A 60’s Love Story. Directed by Tate Steinseck (Face Off) and set for release through Breaking Glass Pictures, Addiction: A 60’s Love Story takes place in New York City, in 1968. Austin created a dark, afflicted, psychedelic soundtrack to match the film’s delivery. Additionally, several of Austin’s prior recordings were worked into the soundtrack, including the emotional “Broken Knee” ballad from LAE’s Break The Clasp and several Today Is The Day tracks. Addiction: A 60’s Love Story is set to premiere in Hollywood on November 3rd, 2015. View the film’s official trailer at Entertainment Tonight Online HERE, and the official IMDB listing for the movie HERE.

LAE / TODAY IS THE DAY Frontman Steve Austin Scores Hollywood Film, Addiction: A 60’s Love Story; Updates on LAE Vinyl And TODAY IS THE DAY Tour

Steve Austin-studio

Steve Austin, iconic frontman for visionary metal trio, TODAY IS THE DAY, and post-hardcore quintet, LAE, has completed his first full-on solo recording, in the form of an original score for the upcoming Hollywood release of Addiction: A 60’s Love Story.

Directed by Tate Steinseck (Face Off) and set for release through Breaking Glass Pictures, Addiction: A 60’s Love Story takes place in New York City, in 1968. A short synopsis; Max Bornstein had the wit, looks and charm that would carry him beyond the typical man’s troubles. He was untouchable… Yet the typical man’s troubles were the least of Max’s worries: He was a full-time dope fiend and a part-time father working within the underground, highly illegal pornography industry. The film stars Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter), Ian Harding (Pretty Little Liars), Carol Kane (Dog Day Afternoon), Ray Santiago (Ash Vs. Evil Dead), Michael Badalucco (O Brother Where Art Thou?) and more, with Steve Austin handling the original score as an associate producer.

Created at his own Austin Enterprise Studio — the origin of groundbreaking albums from Deadguy, Burn The Priest/Lamb Of God, Jello Biafra, in addition to TODAY IS THE DAY, and LAE — the iconic Steve Austin created a dark, afflicted, psychedelic soundtrack to match the film’s delivery. Additionally, several of Austin’s prior recordings were worked into the soundtrack. The song “Outlaw” from TODAY IS THE DAY’s tenth LP, Animal Mother, a psychedelic reworking of the title track to the band’s classic Temple Of The Morning Star LP, as well as the emotional “Broken Knee” ballad by Austin-fronted post-hardcore outfit, LAE, and their debut LP, Break The Clasp.

Issues Austin on the soundtrack, “Two years ago, my good friend Tate Steinseck asked me if I wanted to do the original score for this film; after reading the script, I immediately said yes! The film is set in the 1960s. Rather than go for a retro vibe, I set out to make a score for this film that could enhance the seedy, criminal vibe going on. Dirty, smoky jazz, psychedelic keyboards, and in general a vibe that makes you feel the duality of what the main character Max Bornstein, is going through. When I got the final cut of the film, I locked myself away in my studio and watched the film over and over again. The main character in the film struggles with normal family life and the dark side of drug addiction and selling illegal pornography. I was deeply affected by this film. For days, I felt like I had fallen into the dark and insane world that Max was living in back in the 1960s and 1970s. It’s a true story, that really hits hard.”

Addiction: A 60’s Love Story is set to premiere in Hollywood on November 3rd, 2015. View the film’s official trailer at Entertainment Tonight Online HERE, and the official IMDB listing for the movie HERE.

Break The Clasp, the debut LP from LAE — the Montreal-based psychedelic post-hardcore outfit which features Steve Austin on lead vocals and production/mastering — is finally nearing its availability on vinyl, following its CD and digital release in November. The incredibly expansive torrent of emotions contained on the nearly hour-long album features standout performances from each member, through the use of countless types of guitars and amplification, an arsenal of keyboards, organs, synths and pianos, trumpet, singing saw, accordion, electronics and more. The thirteen-track journey through Live, Hope, Love and Death now sees an incredible 2xLP release, pressed on two massive slabs of 180-gram black vinyl with poly-lined inner sleeves, a full-color gatefold cardboard outer sleeve with front and back spot varnish and free digital download. A co-released title with The Compound Recs. and Battleground Records, the vinyl version of Break The Clasp is now available for preorder via The Compound HERE and Battleground HERE.

DIE CHOKING: Decibel Magazine Debuts “The Prince Of Population” From The Compound Recs-Bound III LP; Band To Support Catharsis This Friday

Die Choking Jul15

Still over two months ahead of its release, another scorching track from DIE CHOKING’s impending III debut LP has been haphazardly fired point-blank into the masses early, with a stream of its fifth track, “The Prince Of Population,” premiered via Decibel Magazine.

Unhinged Philadelphia-based trio, DIE CHOKING — featuring ex and current members of Total Fucking Destruction, Cop Problem, and Burden — dispatches some of the most jagged riffage and pummeling percussive execution one can envision. An unbelievably dense, relentless display of some of the heaviest grindcore ever conceived, III was written during the shitty Northeastern Winter months; it is an album stripped of overproduction, performed with devastating efficiency, and dripping with a foul aggression that is frequently absent in today’s extreme music landscape. There are no samples, no triggers; the band simply drilled the takes until they hit it, the album recorded, engineered, and mixed by Will Yip at Studio 4 (Lauryn Hill, Blacklisted, Cop Problem) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Nails, Skinless, Integrity), and its cover art designed by guitarist Jeffrey V Daniels. As with DIE CHOKING’s self-titled and II 7” releases, Earsplit’s DIY label, The Compound Recs, will release III in conjunction with the band. Decibel Magazine blasts the fifth track from III, “The Prince Of Population,” directly into the public’s collective face, the song a prime example of the harsh crust/punk attributes this debut LP bears over DIE CHOKING’s prior EPs.

Unload DIE CHOKING’s “The Prince Of Population” exclusively through Decibel Magazine RIGHT HERE.

The LP’s “Death’s Waveform” was recently released via Cvlt Nation HERE and half of the band’s headlining set in Brooklyn last week playing at Metal Injection HERE.

III will see digital release on October 8th and the vinyl on October 23rd. The LP is being pressed on 180-gram wax in three insane color variants — 100 in an A Side/B Side black-base 2 Blue Splatter, exclusive to The Compound, available HERE, and 200 each of Blues Of The Mighty Haze and Blue & Bone Splatter Milky Clear available through the band HERE. Stand by for digital preorders.

DIE CHOKING’s ongoing live rampage continues, as the band will support the return of the iconic Catharsis to Philadelphia after a sixteen-year gap, this Friday, August 7th. Additional shows throughout the Northeast with Today Is The Day, Abigail Williams, The Drip, Eaten, Grin And Bear It, Hivelords, Belus, Grizzlor, Old Lines and more are also confirmed through September, and October sees the band on their first West Coast US tour, still being finalized. DIE CHOKING will make their maiden raid of Europe in February as well.
